FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Understanding the Services On Offer at Dyslexia South East
1. How is Dyslexia South East's service different from that of an Educational Psychologist? We are Specialist Teacher Assessors with classroom and SENCo experience, focusing on dyslexia and literacy. Unlike some educational psychologists, we offer detailed assessments and practical strategies tailored to your child’s learning needs at home and in school.
2. How much does a dyslexia assessment cost? Full dyslexia assessments start from £575. This includes a pre-assessment call, 1:1 testing (face-to-face or online), a detailed report, a follow-up consultation, and ongoing support. No hidden fees — just high-quality dyslexia assessment near you.
3. Do you offer assessments for schools, colleges or universities? Yes. Dyslexia South East works with schools, colleges, and universities across East Sussex and beyond. We assess individuals or small groups, either in-person or remotely. Get in touch to discuss how we can support your learners.
The Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment Process
4. Do you offer assessments for schools, colleges or universities? Yes. Dyslexia South East works with schools, colleges, and universities across East Sussex and beyond. We assess individuals or small groups, either in-person or remotely. Get in touch to discuss how we can support your learners.
5. Will we get ideas for how to help at home? Yes. All our reports include tailored dyslexia support strategies for home. These can also be used by specialist tutors. We’re happy to suggest further ideas to help you build confidence and support your child’s learning at home.
Diagnosis and Support
6. Is this just about giving my child a label? No. Our focus is on identifying learning needs and providing practical support. Whether or not dyslexia is diagnosed, our reports include clear, individualised strategies for home, school and work — helping each learner succeed.
7. Will a dyslexia diagnosis mean my child automatically gets extra help? Not automatically — but it strengthens the case. Dyslexia is covered by the Equality Act 2010. Our reports help schools understand your child’s needs and make reasonable adjustments, even without an EHCP or additional funding.
